Steak with Wasabi Butter Sauce

Tuesday, March 18, 2008 | Labels: , , |

This is a yummy recipe I found online initially for tuna steaks, but I found that it works really well with beef as well. Steak with wasabi sauce may sound a little different at first, but all my family members and friends who have tried this love it!

Ingredients:
Steaks
Salt & Pepper (for seasoning)

For the sauce:

wasabi (1 tsp, adjust according to taste)
soy sauce 1 cup of white/ red wine though I prefer white
1 tbp of vinegar
1/2 cup of chopped shallots
A stick of butter

Method:

Cook the steaks, I usually grill them in the oven and sometimes pan fry them later to get it a little crispy. While waiting for the steaks to cook, prepare the sauce. Put in the shallots together with the white wine and vinegar and heat up in a pan until there is only about 2 tbp of liquid in the pan. Strain the liquid and remove the shallots. Meanwhile, pour in the liquid into the pan again, and add in the wasabi and soya sauce on very low heat. Slowly add in the butter and stir until the butter is slowly melted into the liquid. That's it! A very delicious and simple sauce for steaks. I love to use brussel sprouts as the side vegetables, for some reason the sauce goes really well with the brussel sprouts too! Have fun!
