Recipe from Chinese Snacks by Huang Su-Huei
I love steamed cakes and this is a simple recipe for something sweet and light. These steamed cakes are sold everywhere in Malaysia and is one the most popular light cakes for the breakfast meal back home. As I don't have much of a sweet tooth, this is perfect for me when I have a craving for something sweet. However, if you've never tried steamed cake before, you might be in for a surprise. I like to eat this just plain on its' own with cup of scalding hot tea.

It's look like Ma lai koh!wow!!..I never steam any cake b4,the last time I see my mom steam "kui ngee kor".I like to bake but nobody will eat:( Anyway I have meme for you at my kitchen, see yea!
This is absolutely a must order dessert when having dim sum unless sold out. I'm a big fan of desserts, both chinese and western, just too lazy to bake and quite a lot of ingredients will be needed for western desserts. I would like to try this during CNY holidays. With the help from Dad & Mom, it's also a good family activity. Thanks !
Great recipe!!!
Can you please modify so you don't need to steam on a sheet of PLASTIC!!!! THAT IS NOT HEALTHY!
Thanks for your input, you can steam it in foil or cheesecloth, that should be healthier. However, please don't yell (typing in block letters equate to yelling online). Thanks :)
hi, i like ur recipe, do you steamed boil the butter to get melted butter ?
hi there! I just melt the butter in the microwave...microwave on high on 5 second bursts, depending on the quantity, once or twice of the 5 second bursts should be adequate..thanks!
