Beef Stew Recipe

Sunday, August 24, 2014 | No Comment »

There's nothing more heartwarming than a bowl of hot beef stew on a rainy Sunday afternoon.  This was actually requested so as I have never made beef stew so I thought why not.  This is a modified recipe of Jamie Oliver's but I did not use the oven or even a Dutch oven.  I merely cooked it over the stove but the flavours were still deep and delicious.  I used steak for stewing and plenty of vegetables.  The recipe calls for artichokes and squash but as they are hard to find here, I skipped them.

Thai Style Green Salad Recipe

Well, strictly speaking this is not really a recipe.  I have been loving salads more and more lately due to influence from someone :P.  It is refreshing I have to admit and definitely easy to put together! For today, I merely used Yuen Chun's Thai sauce mixed with some lemon juice as the dressing.  Appetising, tangy and easy!

Sambal Ikan Kering Recipe (Dried Fish Sambal)

Sunday, August 24, 2014 | Labels: , | No Comment »

Sometimes, simplicity is really the best.  Whenever I pound sambal belacan, I always make sure to pound more as having a container of sambal belacan on hand is so useful.  You can use it to fry rice, noodles and make a myriad of dishes.  For today, I made sambal ikan kering (dried fish).  These fishes are similar to salted fish but not as salty and is extremely crunchy once fried.  Cooking for two can be challenging at times and this is a dish that you can whip up easily and quickly.  I just added some hard boiled eggs and sliced cucumber for a refreshing bite.

Shrimpy Olio Spaghetti Recipe (By C)

Saturday, August 23, 2014 | No Comment »

Although I love cooking if I do say so myself, I have to admit that it is always a great feeling to be pampered and to be cooked for at times.  Today's feature is the boyfriend's version of the ever popular Spaghetti Aglio Olio.  Instead of only using olive oil as is the classic version, he used a little pat of butter which added to the flavouring and some dried chili peppers (Malaysian style huh?).  Anyway, the end result was satisfying and definitely delicious in my books.  Topped with some fresh oregano, it made a great lunch! Thanks D <3 br="">
