Braised Fish Maw with Shiitake Mushrooms and Dried Scallops Recipe

Tuesday, March 31, 2015 | No Comment »

What to do with all the Chinese New Year goodies? If you have boxes of traditional Chinese goodies still tucked away, this is a great one-pot dish to make delicious use of them.  Fish maw is touted to be beneficial for the complexion due to the high levels of collagen found in them - nevertheless how much the body actually retains is debatable.  But, I do know they provide great texture in this flavourful dish.

I hope you give this a try and let me know how you like it!  This post is part of my Yuen Chun Recipes.

Vinegar Pork Trotters Recipe

Tuesday, March 24, 2015 | Labels: , | No Comment »

This popular dish of pork trotters cooked in black vinegar is traditionally served to post-natal mothers.  However, this is also a very yummy dish which you can serve when the mood strikes.  This dish blends sweet and savoury (and sour of course) flavours into a yummy pot of goodness!  My personal favourite is adding hard boiled eggs but it is entirely up to you of course.  This is my mom's recipe where she does not add ginger as most of us are of hot dispositions hence ginger can be 'heaty' for us.
